Xiaomi launches Mi Ninebot Plus, Mi Laser Projector and Mi Ultrasonic Toothbrush in China

Xiaomi has added three new smart devices to its growing smart ecosystem.


Xiaomi, with its Mi ecosystem sub-brand MIJIA, has launched the successor to last year’s NineBot Mini. Announced at Xiaomi’s annual Mi Ecosystem event in China, the NineBot Mini is a mini scooter, that also doubles as a bot. As compared to its predecessor, the new Ninebot offers improved stability, it climb over obstacles such as bumps easier, and it also very convenient to hop on. The controls of the Ninebot Plus are simple to get used to.

However the highlight is that the Ninebot plus is that it is integrated with machine learning, which helps it learn speed, balance, agility, recovery, and braking that is adjusted accordingly to best suit the user. While the machine learning helps you when you are riding the Ninebot, it also helps you when you use it as a robot. Essentially, you can use the Ninebot Plus for picking your groceries or may be walking your pooch, and it intelligently follows you. Only condition, the Ninebot Plus ought to be within 20m range from you.

There is also an optional Mi Ninebot Plus Camera that has 3-axis OIS, 1080p Full HD video recording, 104-degrees wide angle to record video real time. Additionally, the Ninebot Plus also comes with improved front light, which change colour according to the direction you head towards. So darker the path brighter the light, and brighter the path softer the lights. Other improvements include, new 800W motor, reinforced magnesium alloy chassis that can hold weight up to 100kg, can go up to 35km on a single charge, and the 329Wh 18650 battery that has IPX6 rating for water resistance. It also comes with an accessories storage box.

Along with the Mi Ninebot Plus, Xiaomi also launched the Mi Laser Projector. Priced at RMB 9,999 (approximately Rs 95,000), the Mi Laser Projector comes with a built-in Mi TV, and can project out to a 150-inch huge screen! Which means, by connecting to Wi-Fi, you can view movies and TV shows directly from the projector. The Mi Laser Projector also comes with a voice recognition function. The Mi Laser Projector features 4 high-power built-in speakers too.

The projector uses Advanced Laser Phosphor Display for color accuracy and high contrast. It incorporates APPTRONICS and Texas Instruments’ technology to provide light source optoelectronic technology and DLP imaging chip. These partnerships are meant for the sole purpose of improving the visual quality for the product. Mi Laser Projector provides up to 25,000 laser life. Further, Xiaomi launched another product called the Mi Ultrasonic Toothbrush, which marks the first Mi Ecosystem product in the personal healthcare space. Basically, the electric toothbrush uses ultrasonic technology, which enables vibrations of up to 31,000 times per minute for powerful cleaning. With a built-in 700mAh lithium battery, it can last 18 days on a single charge based on twice-a-day usage. The Mi Ultrasonic Toothbrush will retail at RMB 199, which is about Rs 1,900 and it will starting selling from July 18.
