It s difficult to keep a track of all smart products Xiaomi has been launching. Today, the company has added two more products to the list – Xiaomi Mi Temperature and Humidity Monitor, and a limited edition Mi AI Speaker. Both the smart products will remain exclusive to China as of now. The pricing and availability of the products are not known yet. At the launch event in China, Xiaomi also announced that it is partnering with search giant Baidu to develop advanced consumer electronics products powered by artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of things (IoT). The company also announced that it has more than 85 million connected devices including smartphones, laptop computer, air purifiers, robot vacuum cleaners, coffee makers and electric scooters. Baidu will put its greatest effort to work with Xiaomi and other developers, said Lu Qi, vice-chairman and chief operating officer at Baidu.
While the details about the Mi Temperature and Humidity Monitor are unclear at the moment, we do know a bit about the Mi AI Speaker. To begin Xiaomi says that the Mi AI Speaker helps users in their day-to-day activities. The smart speaker listens to the daily command, but only in Chinese. It can play music, notify you of the weather, traffic, control home appliances, set alarms and take notes.
While smart products remain the main focus in China, in India, Xiaomi has been focussed on building its portfolio around Narendra Modi s Make in India initiative. The company is set to launch a new smartphone under its Redmi-series on November 30.
Xiaomi is now the leading smartphone vendor in the top 50 Indian cities according to the latest IDC reports. In India, Xiaomi recorded a 120 percent growth in Q3 2017, with the Redmi Note 4 being the best selling smartphone for three consecutive quarters.
