Xiaomi launches Xiao AI-powered Smart Alarm Clock for approximately Rs 1,600

Xiaomi may be primarily known as a smartphone maker, but the company is also into many other things. It sells laptops, tablets, smart home devices, pens, umbrellas, smart shoes and much more. Now, the latest product announced by Xiaomi is a Smart Alarm Clock that is powered by the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) assistant, Xiao AI.

The Smart Alarm Clock is priced at RMB 149, which is approximately Rs 1,600. Basically, it is a smart speaker with a big display which only displays time and icons for clock and notification. One can use the Smart Alarm Clock to set up to 30 different alarms using their voice. When the alarm is ringing, users can either snooze it by pressing the button on top, or even using their voice.

Users can also add up to 80 reminders on the Xiaomi smart alarm clock, apart from asking stock reports, latest news, weather updates, and ask general questions. What’s more, the smart alarm clock can also read stories, crack jokes and recite poems. And like any other smart home product, it can also be used for controlling other Xiaomi smart products such as smart kitchen equipment, bulbs, lamps and much more. Lastly, it can also stream audio from more than 2,000 internet radio stations.

Talking about specifications, the Xiao AI Smart Alarm click has a bright display. It is powered by a quad-core SoC clocked at 1.3GHz, and connects to Wi-Fi (2.4GHz) and Bluetooth 4.0 LE. In terms of compatibility, it works with Android smartphones running Jelly Bean 4.2 OS and above, and with iPhones running iOS 8 and above.

The speaker is available to pre-order from Xiaomi’s website, but as usual, there is no word on whether or not it will be launched in India.
