The Xiaomi Mi 3 will go on sale for a day on January 26, which is the Republic Day. Those interested in buying the phone have to head over to the Xiaomi India website at 12:00PM on Monday. They will have to submit their Flipkart registered email on the registration page. The link will only be open till 2:00PM, and the company has warned that only limited number of handsets will be up for grabs. Those who are successful in registering will have the Mi 3 added to their Flipkart shopping carts at 5:00PM the same day.
This isn t the first time the Mi 3 has been brought back to India, since being discontinued. Last year in October, Xiaomi offered 25,000 units of the Mi 3 to those buyers who had tried to purchase the device in the flash sales, but were unsuccessful.
Before being discontinued, Xiaomi had sold over 95,000 units. In the six flash sales conducted by Xiaomi, Flipkart ran out of stocks in just over half hour in the first sale, five seconds in the second sale, two seconds in the third sale, and 2.4 seconds, 2.3 seconds and 2.4 seconds in the last three sales respectively.
To recap, Xiaomi made its debut in the Indian market with the Mi 3, priced at Rs 13,999. As far as specifications are concerned, it features a 5-inch full HD IPS display, 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.
Also included is 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-flash, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 3,050mAh battery, 3G support, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and Wi-Fi Direct. On the software front, it runs on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat wrapped under MIUI.
