The launch timeframe for the Mi 4 is consistent with what Barra had revealed to BGR India earlier this year. The flagship device also marks the end of the Mi 3 in India, as it has replaced the latter on the production lines. Barra also said that the company won t host a full fledged Mi 3 sale in India again, and will instead look at finishing up the inventory that it currently has. Last week during Flipkart s Big Billion Day sale, the company had made 25,000 units of the smartphone available for selected users who had failed to buy the smartphone before. The Mi 4 is Xiaomi s flagship device and flaunts a 5-inch full HD 1080p display and is powered by a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The smartphone also features a 13-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front-facing camera, 16GB of internal storage, and a 3,080mAh battery.
In the meantime, Xiaomi is also prepping the launch of the Redmi Note in India, which was earlier expected to go on sale before Diwali. Barra however says that they are currently working on the logistics and also want to have the software for the phablet ready for India before the launch. The Redmi Note too is likely to go on sale in the next two months, and could be launched alongside the Mi 4.
The Redmi Note was announced in India for Rs 9,999. It sports a 5.5-inch 720p IPS display, 1.7GHz Mediatek s MT6592 octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage with a microSD card slot, 3,100mAh battery and 13-megapixel rear/5-megapixel front cameras.
