Earlier this year in March, Microsoft officially announced the rollout timeline for Windows 10. At the same time, the software giant also revealed that it has partnered with Xiaomi to offer select few Mi 4 users a chance to test Windows 10 preview on their smartphones. Now, Xiaomi Founder and President, Lin Bin posted a photo on Weibo suggesting that the Windows 10 Mobile OS for Mi 4 will be officially launched on December 3.
Besides the Mi 4, the recently launched Mi Pad 2 will be the second Xiaomi device to run on Windows 10 OS. The tablet also has an Android variant, thus letting users choose between Windows 10 and Android. There are also some rumors pointing to the Mi Note Pro getting Windows 10 build.
Xiaomi Mi 4 specifications and features: To recap, the smartphone flaunts a 5-inch full HD (1080p) display with a pixel density of 441ppi. It is powered by a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The smartphone is available in 16GB and 64GB storage variants.
On the camera front, it comes equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera and a 3,080mAh battery. On the connectivity front, the Mi 4 supports 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.
The smartphone was launched with Android 4.4.3 KitKat OS wrapped under MIUI 6. In August, Xiaomi also released Android 5.1 Lollipop update wrapped under MIUI 7. In terms of pricing, the Mi 4 16GB variant is available for Rs. 14,999, whereas the 64GB variant is available for Rs. 17,999.
