Xiaomi Mi 5 black color variant photos leaked ahead of February launch: Features and specifications


As we inch closer to the official unveiling of the Xiaomi Mi 5, two photos of the smartphone’s black variant have leaked on China s Weibo. From the photos we can see the display, the earpiece and front-facing camera right above it and the thin bezels on the sides. Below the screen, there s a small physical home button, which will double as a fingerprint scanner as well. From what we ve learned so far, the Mi 5 is going to sport the smallest and fastest fingerprint scanner yet. Last week, Xiaomi s global VP Hugo Barra had tweeted about getting his Mi 5 smartphone, which runs on Snapdragon 820 processor. Xiaomi Mi 5 specifications and features: Putting all the leaks and rumors together, the Mi 5 is likely to sport a 5.2-inch QHD (2560 1440 pixels) display and pixel density of 565ppi. With Qualcomm s Snapdragon 820 SoC at helm and paired with Adreno 530 GPU, 4GB of RAM is also expected to be in tow. The Mi 5 is said to come in 32GB and 64GB internal storage variants.

For the shutterbugs, it could feature a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 13-megapixel selfie camera. Along with a 3,600mAh battery, the smartphone is also expected to boast Qualcomm s Quick Charge 3.0 feature. On the connectivity front, Wi-Fi 802.11ad, Bluetooth, 4G LTE, GPS and NFC chip are expected. At launch, the Mi 5 could run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 7.

As confirmed earlier by the company s co-founder Liwan Jiang, the Mi 5 will go on sale after the Chinese Spring Festival, which falls on February 8.
