Xiaomi launched the Mi 5 in India back in April this year, but contrary to the current trend, the flagship smartphone was only available in one color — white. Now Xiaomi has launched the black variant of the Mi 5, which has gone on sale on Amazon India and Flipkart. There is however no word on the gold variant’s availability. Xiaomi had originally launched the Mi 5 in China in two colors (black and white) and three storage (32GB, 64GB and 128GB) variants. The gold variant was launched in China at a later date, and not surprisingly, it looks the best of the lot. In India though, Xiaomi only launched the white 32GB variant. Today, the black 32GB variant is going on sale via Amazon India and Flipkart. As for the gold variant, Xiaomi says it will be available ‘soon’. Xiaomi Mi 5 specifications, features: It flaunts a 5.15-inch full HD (1080p) display, and is powered by Qualcomm s Snapdragon 820 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM. While there is 32GB internal storage, there is no microSD slot to expand the storage.
The Mi 5 also features a 16-megapixel rear camera with 4K video recording capabilities, four-axis OIS technology, PDAF, and dual-tone LED flash, 4-megapixel selfie camera, 3,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support, and a fingerprint scanner embedded into the home button. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, IR Blaster, USB Type-C port and NFC, and on the software front, it runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow wrapped under MIUI 7.
Though initially exclusive to mi.com, Xiaomi has since expanded the Mi 5’s availability to Amazon India, Flipkart, Snapdeal, and Tata Cliq.
