Seems like everyone these days wants a gold smartphone, and Xiaomi doesn’t want to leave these customers behind. Starting today, Xiaomi has launched a gold color variant for its flagship Mi 5 smartphone. The only catch here is that this gold color variant is only available in China, and there is no word on when Xiaomi plans to introduce it in India. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is gold colored on the front as well as the back, and we must say that it looks gorgeous. The shine on the chamfered edges and the ring surrounding home button take the premium-ness of the smartphone up a couple of notches. Apart from the color everything else remains the same. Xiaomi is offering the gold option with only the 32GB standard variant, which is priced at 1,999 Yuan in China. In India, the 32GB variant is priced at Rs 24,999, and the next online sale is scheduled for May 4. It’s however unclear when Xiaomi plans to bring the gold color variant to India.
Xiaomi Mi 5 specifications, features: The Xiaomi Mi 5 flaunts a 5.15-inch 1080p display, and is powered by a Snapdragon 820 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM. There’s 32GB internal memory on offer, but no microSD option to expand it.
The Mi 5 also features a 16-megapixel rear camera with 4K video recording capabilities, four-axis OIS technology, PDAF, and dual-tone LED flash, a 4-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 3,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, IR Blaster, USB Type-C port and NFC. On the software front, it runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 wrapped under MIUI 7.
