Xiaomi is expected to take the wraps off the much-awaited Mi 5 sometime in the beginning of next year. As we inch closer to the end of 2015, we have been treated to best ever look at the forthcoming smartphone courtesy of a few leaked press renders and a hands-on video.
The Mi 5 we see in the press renders is in line with earlier leaks as far as the overall design is concerned. The smartphone also seems to boast a curved screen up front. The renders show the device in black, pink and white color variants and also reiterate the presence of a physical home button up front. As per previous rumors, the Mi 5 will boast the smallest and fastest fingerprint scanner yet integrated into this button.
The Mi 5 seen in the hands-on video (via TimesNews.uk) is the white variant and is also in line with the leaked renders. It is placed on a wooden dock and is also in working condition. The user switches on the device and also opens what seems like Weibo.
Xiaomi Mi 5 specifications and features: The smartphone is rumored to feature a 5.2-inch QHD display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset, Adreno 530 GPU, 4GB of RAM, and 16GB, 64GB and 128GB storage variants.
It is also expected to feature a 20-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel selfie camera, 3,800mAh battery, and connectivity options like NFC. On the software front, it will run on Android Lollipop-based MIUI 7. A Chinese online retailer recently listed the Mi 5 with a price tag of $599, which roughly translates to Rs 40,000. We would however advise you to take it with the proverbial pinch of salt.
