Xiaomi was heavily rumored to launch the Mi 5 earlier this year, but instead they surprised us with the Mi Note. Later, they released the ‘Made for India’ Mi 4i last month, but speculation around the Mi 5 is far from dead. The latest information coming out of the rumor mill is that the flagship device along with the Mi 5 Plus will launch in November, and come sporting a bezel-less display. The news was broken by a Chinese website and was first spotted by Android Headlines. According to the publication, both the Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus will feature a full-metal build and a bezel-less display. Additionally, the report also suggests that the Mi 5 may come with a price tag of $371 (Rs 23,900 approximately). Earlier reports also speculated a July launch (as the Mi 4 launched last July), but now November seems to be on the cards. Previous leaks suggest a 5.2-inch 2K (2560×1440 pixels) display. It is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor paired with 3GB or 4GB RAM. The 3GB variant will come with 16GB of in-built storage, while the 4GB variant will sport 64GB of storage. Other rumored specs include a 16-megapixel OIS camera, 6.1mm thickness, and at least 3,000mAh battery. Also Read - Xiaomi stops software updates for Redmi Note 3, Mi 4 and more
The Mi 5 Plus, as the name suggests, is expected to be a larger variant of the Mi 5. It will feature a 6-inch 2K display, 4GB of RAM, 32GB onboard storage and 16-megapixel rear camera. On the software front, the forthcoming smartphones are expected to run on Android Lollipop-based MIUI.
