Xiaomi s long rumored and highly-anticipated flagship Mi 5 has been subjected to numerous leaks. New purported leaked photo on Chinese publication site Gizmochina indicate that the Mi 5 will indeed be using a 2.5D curved glass display. While photos of an alleged black version of the Mi 5 had previously surfaced, this is the first time we have visual confirmation of the curved display. The latest leaked photo shows the white color variant from the top angle. It shows off the Mi logo above the screen, the fingerprint scanner integrated within the home button, the 3.5mm audio jack on the top left corner and possibly an IR Blaster on the top right. Mi 5 is also expected to come in two other colors, black and pink.
Along with the smartphone, photo of its charger has also surfaced, revealing that the Mi 5 will support Qualcomm s Quick Charge 3.0. The specifications mentioned on the charger include input of 100-240V AC, output of 5V/2.5A, 9V /2A, 12V/1.5A, with maximum power at 18W.
Xiaomi Mi 5 specifications and features: From everything we know so far, the Mi 5 is set to sport a 5.2-inch QHD (2560 1440 pixels) display with pixel density of 565ppi. Qualcomm s Snapdragon 820 SoC is confirmed to be at helm, paired with Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB of RAM. Internal storage of 32GB and 64GB are expected.
With a 16-megapixel rear camera, 13-megapixel selfie camera and a 3,600mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support, connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 802.11ad, Bluetooth, 4G LTE, GPS and NFC chip are likely to be in tow. On the software front, Mi 5 could run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 7.
Xiaomi has confirmed that the Mi 5 will be launched after China s Spring Festival, which falls February 8. Rumors have suggested that Xiaomi could host a launch event on February 20, a day ahead of Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and LG’s G5 MWC launch events on February 20.
