As per the image, the Mi 5 Plus will have a slimmer body, wider screen, and thinner bezels. The screen also has 2.5D display, a screen type which curves at the edges. Unfortunately, that is all the details the alleged image of the rumored Mi 5 Plus is able to provide. Previously it was expected that the company will be launching the Mi 5 handset at the event, and Redmi Note 2 alongwith it. Now it seems the company also has an Mi 5 Plus handset in the works as well. It will be interesting to see how many of these devices are real, and how many of them Xiaomi wants to make public tomorrow.
From what we have heard so far, the Redmi Note 2, which is the successor to Redmi Note 4G, is likely to feature a 5.7-inch 1080p 2.5D display (the kind of screen that curves at the edges), 64-bit capable octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, paired with Adreno 306 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Also likely to be included are 16GB/32GB internal storage, 13-megapixel shooter with dual-tone dual-LED flash, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 3,600mAh battery. It could be possible that Xiaomi rebrands the Redmi Note series to Mi Plus, considering the two devices sound very similar in terms of design and features.
The Xiaomi Mi 5, on the other hand, will be superseding last year s Xiaomi Mi 4 flagship smartphone. It comes with QHD screen ranging between 5.2- and 5.5-inches. On the camera front, the handset is pegged to carry either a 20-megapixel camera or a 13-megapixel sensor. For the processor, we were expecting a Snapdragon 805 or Snapdragon 810 chipset, though a recent alleged AnTuTu benchmarking score of the said handset points to Snapdragon 801 processor and 2GB of RAM.
