After LG unveiled the Quick Cover phone case for the LG G5, Xiaomi has followed suit. The Chinese company has unveiled a protective cover for its upcoming flagship Mi 5 smartphone. The cover looks quite sleek, and in fact Xiaomi says that it is only 0.45mm thick. Not much else is decipherable by looking at the case, but the overall form factor does seem to be in line with the renders we have come across so far. Xiaomi is believed to be launching multiple variants of the Mi 5, with two of them differentiated by their design — one in metal and another with a 2.5D curved glass on the back and front. Xiaomi Mi 5 specifications and features: The metal Mi 5 variant is expected to come in 32GB and 64GB storage options, featuring 3GB and 4GB of RAM respectively, and a 1080p display. The glass variant, on the other hand, is expected to feature QHD display, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB and 64GB storage variants.
The rest of the specifications for the variants are likely to remain the same. The Mi 5 will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 chipset, and feature a 3,600mAh battery, fingerprint scanner, IR Blaster, fingerprint scanner, connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, and NFC.
On the photography front, the Mi 5 is said to feature a 16-megapixel primary camera, and an 8-megapixel selfie camera up front. In the run up to the launch, Xiaomi executives have shared a few camera samples, and they do seem to be quite impressive.
Xiaomi is planning on launching the Mi 5 on February 24. It will be hosting events in China as well as MWC in Barcelona on the same day.
