Xiaomi has sent out invites for launch event, where it is expected to take the wraps off the much-rumored Mi 5s. The launch event will take place on September 27. The invite doesn’t exactly mention the name of the smartphone, but it contains the letter ‘S’ that is a clear indication of Xiaomi’s plans. The upgraded version of the Mi 5 has been spotted on benchmarking website AnTuTu before revealing key specifications, and the smartphone has also been cleared by the Chinese 3C regulatory body. A recent Xiaomi Mi 5s leaked photo showed the front panel of the smartphone that features a circular home button much like the iPhones. This photo actually contradicts earlier rumors about the smartphone featuring Qualcomm s Sense ID ultrasonic fingerprint sensor embedded into the front glass panel. Now, another alleged Mi 5s photo has been spotted by PhoneArena, which gives us a glimpse of the smartphone’s back panel. The photo shows a black color variant with the camera lens situated at the top-center of the device, as opposed to the top-left corner on the Mi 5. Although the image quality is rather bad, the back seems to have been made up of a glass panel.
Xiaomi Mi 5s specifications
Based on what we have come across so far, the Xiaomi Mi 5s is expected to feature a 5.15-inch full HD (1080p) display with Force Touch feature akin to Apple’s 3D Touch. Under the hood, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 quad-core chipset clocked at 2.4GHz is expected paired with Adreno 530 GPU. The smartphone could come with 6GB of RAM, and internal storage which could go up to 256GB.
On the photography front, the Mi 5s could sport a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and 4-axis optical image stabilization (OIS). It could be powered by a 3,490mAh battery along with Qualcomm s Fast Charge 3.0 support. Its connectivity options could be USB Type-C port, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and Wi-Fi 802.11.
Another smartphone is rumored to be launching along with Xiaomi Mi 5s. As PhoneArena reports, Xiaomi could also be launching the Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus at the same event as well. Not a lot is known about this smartphone, except it could come with a Snapdragon 821 processor and 5.7-inch dual-curve display. This may be the variant that could actually feature Qualcomm s Sense ID ultra sonic fingerprint scanner. ALSO READ: Xiaomi Mi 5s live photo reveals Apple iPhone-like circular home button
