The Xiaomi Mi 5X is expected to launch in China very soon. There has been a lot of buzz around the Mi 5X as it will also debut Xiaomi’s latest UI – the MIUI 9. Xiaomi has teased the smartphone on the social platforms and revealed a few details already. The smartphone has managed to generate a lot of excitement in the China market and will most likely launch under the new Lanmi sub-brand. Xiaomi created the Lanmi brand to take on Oppo and Vivo in the home market as the brands are quickly expanding and providing tough competition to Xiaomi. As per the FCC listing, Xiaomi Mi 5X comes with all-metal unibody design and the antenna bands along the top and the bottom edges. The smartphone will come with a physical fingerprint scanner and will be available in three colors – Black, Gold, and Pink. The teasers have so far shown only the Black and the Gold color variants. The smartphone will most likely run the new MIUI 9, based on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS, though the FCC listing does not confirm the same. The listing also does not mention the display specifications, leaving it majorly to speculation. The phone will reportedly come with a 5.5-inch Full HD display. On the hardware front, Xiaomi Mi 5X is likely to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 or Snapdragon 625 chipset. The teasers point towards the latter though leaks have mentioned both. The smartphone is most likely to come in two RAM variants – 4GB and 6GB. The internal storage specifications are unknown. What the FCC listing does confirm is the camera resolution. While teasers flaunted a dual rear camera setup, the resolution was unknown. The FCC certification clarified that the phone will come with two 12-megapixel sensors with optical zoom. The smartphone, to be initially rolled out in China, will be priced CNY 1,999 (approximately Rs 19,000). It is unknown if Xiaomi will announce the device in other markets. Meanwhile, the smartphone maker is celebrating the third anniversary in India and has kicked off a sale in the country on its online Mi e-commerce platform. Xiaomi recently announced the Mi Max 2 in India and the smartphone is available across most e-commerce portals in the country. The device will also be up for sale over Paytm Mall in the coming days, Xiaomi recently announced.
