Xiaomi has made the Mi 5X official today at an event in Beijing, China. The smartphone has been in rumors for quite some time promising new upgrades, and also the latest MIUI 9 OS. Priced at RMB 1,499 (approximately Rs 15,000), the Mi 5X is currently limited to China, and there is no word on an Indian launch yet. As far as design is concerned, the Mi 5X looks eerily similar to the Apple iPhone 7 Plus. The rounded edges, and the dual-camera module at the back seem inspired by Apple’s flagship smartphone. The Mi 5X also has ‘discreet’ U-shaped antenna design running across the top and bottom edges of the rear panel. On the front, the smartphone has thick bezels at the top and bottom chin with capacitative touch buttons for ‘home’, ‘recent app’ and ‘back’. It has the SIM slot on the left side of the device, while on the right side it has the volume rocker and power button. The smartphone also has 3.5mm audio jack and rear mounted fingerprint sensor. It will be available in pink, gold and black color options. Xiaomi Mi 5X Features and Specifications
As far as the specifications are concerned, the Mi 5X flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display, and is powered by Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC. It has 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage that can be further expanded via micro SD card. The fingerprint sensor comes with an anti-fingerprint coating to prevent it from wear and tear. The smartphone is also claimed to deliver high-quality audio backed by DHS Audio Calibration Algorithm and a standalone audio amplifier on board. In terms of optics, the Mi 5X draws similar camera configuration to the Mi 6. The smartphone has a pair of 12-megapixel wide-angle lens, and a telephoto lens. The company claims that the dual-camera setup is capable of delivering DSLR-like photos with depth-of field effect while capturing portraits. The Mi 5X houses a 3,080mAh battery, and it is the first smartphone to run MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat 7.0 out-of-the-box.
