Xiaomi today launched the Mi 6 flagship smartphone in China. Prices for the device starts from RMB 2,499 (Rs 25,000 approximately), and it boasts an ‘uniformly aligned’ design and four-sided curved glass design. Though the Mi 6 has been launched in three color variants, but the one worth talking about is the Ceramic variant. The Xiaomi Mi 6 Ceramic variant features a four-sided curved ceramic design. This material was last seen on Xiaomi s MI MIX, which created quite a buzz thanks to its bezel-less design. Another noteworthy aspect of this Mi 6 variant is the 18-karat gold rims around the camera. Though ceramic has been used, Xiaomi says that it is placed at 8 on the Mohs scale, which means it can easily survive daily wear and tear. Xiaomi Mi 6 specifications, features
The Xiaomi Mi 6 sports a 5.15-inch display, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC paired 6GB of RAM. For photography, there is a dual-camera setup at the back. This includes a pair of 12-megapixel snappers — one wide-angle lens and one telephoto lens capable of 2X lossless zoom. The setup is similar to what we have seen on the Apple iPhone 7 Plus. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling.
The dual-camera setup is not the only inspiration Xiaomi seems to have drawn from Apple, as the Mi 6 is also missing the 3.5mm audio jack. The USB Type-C port is used for charging as well as audio. For audiophiles, there are two sets of speakers that offer stereo music. ALSO READ: Xiaomi Mi 6 with Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6GB RAM launched in China: Price, specifications, features
The Mi 6 houses a 3,350mAh battery coupled with Quick Charge 4.0 and MIUI optimizations. In terms of connectivity, the device has dual Wi-Fi technology and 4G. The handset runs on Android Nougat 7.0 topped with Xiaomi’s custom MIUI OS.
While pricing for the Mi 6 starts from RMB 2,499, the Ceramic has been announced at a price of RMB 2,999, which roughly translates into Rs 30,000. There is no official word on the India availability of the device yet. Chances are that Xiaomi might keep the ceramic edition limited to homeland China just like the Mi MIX.
