Xiaomi Mi 6X, the successor to Mi 5X, will be officially unveiled at an event in Wuhan, China today. The smartphone is expected to be the next big offering in Xiaomi’s mid-range segment as it tries to strengthen its place in the Chinese smartphone market. The Mi 6X, post its launch in China, is expected to launch as Mi A2 with Android One branding in markets like India.

Ahead of its official announcement, the Mi 6X has been part of multiple leaks and has even stopped by TENAA, China’s telecom authority to shed some light on its specifications. Early in the day, the Mi 6X also appeared in the form of hands-on photos and video, which paints a clear picture of the device. Xiaomi officials have also been up to the game and have posted multiple camera samples to detail various improvements coming to the camera departments. Here is everything you need to know about the smartphone:

Xiaomi Mi 6X specifications and price

The Mi 6X is expected to follow on the design guidelines of Redmi Note 5 Pro and is expected to feature a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. It is also expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC and will launch in three storage options: 4GB RAM variant with either 32GB or 64GB of storage and 6GB RAM variant with 64GB storage.

Xiaomi Mi 6X is also expected to feature an improved dual camera system with a combination of 20-megapixel and 8-megapixel image sensors. At the front, it is likely to sport a 20-megapixel selfie shooter along with a dedicated LED light. The leaks so far reveal that Mi 6X will ditch the 3.5mm audio jack and instead come bundled with a USB Type-C to 3.5mm headphone dongle.

The Mi 6X was listed on official Android website and is expected to run MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo when it becomes official today. The smartphone is also expected to arrive with stock Android 8.1 Oreo and will be called Mi A2. The Mi 6X is expected to pack a 2,910mAh battery, which is smaller than the 3,080mAh battery found on Mi 5X but might offer better battery life due to new processor.
