Xiaomi is expected to launch two flagship smartphones this year with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. The first device is expected to be the Mi MIX 2S slated to launch on March 27, whereas the second device could be the Mi 7. Apart from the fact that Mi 7 will use Snapdragon 845, we haven’t heard much about the device.

Now, a mysterious smartphone labeled Xiaomi Dipper has appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking platform with Snapdragon 845 platform. This has led to speculation that the smartphone might be the Xiaomi Mi 7. There are also suggestions that Dipper codename seen on Geekbench might be a reference to Big Dipper constellation.

Xiaomi is known for using names of the constellation as the codename for its Mi series smartphones. The Mi 6, Mi 5S Plus, Mi 5S and Mi 5 were codenamed Sagit, Natrium, Capricorn and Gemini respectively. The Geekbench listing shows that upcoming Xiaomi flagship comes with 6GB of RAM and has managed to score 2,449 on single-score and 8,309 in multi-core test.

It is running Android 8.0 Oreo and some reports indicate that Xiaomi is working closely with Qualcomm to further optimize the device. There are reports doing the rounds that claim Xiaomi is going ahead with the launch of Mi MIX 2S while Mi 7 will come later this year in order to integrate under-display fingerprint sensor.

The smartphone is said to sport a 6.01-inch OLED display made by Samsung and it will support always-on display function. There are also reports of the phone getting an iPhone X-like notch and it is expected to arrive with support for 7.5W wireless charging like the iPhone X. The smartphone is currently expected to arrive sometime in June this year.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi is expected to launch the Mi MIX 2S with a slightly tweaked design at an event on March 27. The company is teasing the device with the highest score yet on Antutu benchmark and there are reports claiming that it will have a front camera placed at the top right corner, leading to a nearly bezel-less design. However, it is worth noting that for Xiaomi, the premium devices don’t really contribute much in terms of sales and it is dependent on Redmi-branded smartphones instead.
