Xiaomi is all set to host its 8th-anniversary event in China today, and it is expected to unveil three or more products. From what we know so far, Xiaomi will unveil the Mi 8 flagship smartphone, the Mi Band 3 fitness band, and VR-related product. Now, ahead of the launch, CEO Lei Jun has shared three camera samples shot on the Mi 8, showing its camera prowess.
Spotted by GSMArena, the photos were shared on Weibo showcasing the camera performance in day-light, dusk, and low-light. Of course, these are not the high-resolution full quality images, and they have gone through some compression before uploading on the social network. Yet, the photos look sharp, the colors look punchy, sky is blue and the overall dynamic range is also good.

Even the low-light shot is able to capture the dark sky properly, the lights colors in the building look accurate, and there is little to no noise seen in the photo. Even the third image that was shot at dusk has been able to capture the sunset and sky properly. There is a bonus picture that Lei Jun shared too, and the quality looks good.
From the leaks that we have come across so far, the Mi 8 will come with AI-powered dual rear cameras, with the primary sensor being of 20-megapixel resolution with f/1.7 aperture, and the other being of a 16-megapixel resolution with f/2.0 aperture. Besides the camera, the Mi 8 is expected to feature an edge-to-edge display with a notch on top, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC under the hood, paired with 6GB of RAM, and up to 256GB onboard storage.
