Xiaomi may be planning to launch its current flagship smartphone, the Mi 8 in the Indian market. This comes days after it was revealed that the company may launch a new smartphone under its new sub-brand Poco. According to a report by 91mobiles, the company is planning to finally bring the Mi 8 to India. the report pointed out that this information was revealed by a smartphone dealer based out of Delhi. The company has already launched the device in the Chinese market back in May.
The report goes out to state that the same information has been confirmed from three separate smartphone dealers located in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The dealers added that Xiaomi has informed them that it is “planning to launch the Mi 8 in the country in the coming weeks.” Though Xiaomi has not revealed the exact date of launch or the pricing for the device, it is likely that the company is planning to price it below the Rs 30,000 mark. If the company manages to launch the device at this price then it will bring the competition to its rivals including OnePlus and Asus in this price segment.

To recap, the Mi 8 comes with a wider notch that houses the infrared facial recognition sensors including an infrared lens, infrared lighting, proximity sensor, earpiece and 20-megapixel front camera. Xiaomi Mi 8 is the first Android-powered device to come with a sophisticated 3D facial scanner to take on the FaceID technology by Apple in its iPhone X. Though the technology is not identical to that of iPhone X, Xiaomi showed that this technology cannot be tricked by a photograph or face mask.
The device comes with a metal and glass design sporting a 6.21-inch Samsung AMOLED display with that chin at the bottom of the display. Mi 8 has a resolution of 2248×1080 pixels with 18.7:9 aspect ratio along with support for always-on display. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage.
