Xiaomi Mi 8 hands-on video leaked: Reveals dual-rear camera setup

The hands-on video confirms dual-rear camera setup and further hints at an in-display fingerprint sensor

Xiaomi has confirmed that it will be hosting an event on 31 May in Shenzhen. The company will be celebrating its 8-year anniversary and is rumored be launching a new flagship smartphone called the Mi 8 Anniversary edition. While details haven t officially been revealed, the smartphones pricing and specifications have surfaced in previous leaks. Now a hands-on video gives us more insight on the smartphone s design. The video was reported by Slashleaks. It spans for 9 seconds, in which we get to look at both the front and the back of the smartphone. The phone looks similar to previous renders we ve seen. At the back, the phone will be sporting a dual-rear camera setup which is vertically aligned, much like the ones on iPhone X. At the front is full screen display, with a notch cutout at the top. One of things that s worth noting is that there is no fingerprint sensor, which further helps confirming rumors that stated the phone to have an in-display fingerprint sensor. Based on previous leaks, the Mi 8 is said to be running Snapdragon 845 SoC, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. A higher-end variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is also expected. The phone is said to feature a 6.01-inch display, with a notch at the top. Besides the in-display fingerprint sensor, the phone will also rumored to support 3D facial recognition.

We still haven t got any information about dual-camera sensors at the back, but leaks have suggested an AI camera that can help improve performance in various situations. The phones are said to be priced at RMB 2,799, (approximately Rs 30,000) for the 6GB variant and RMB 3,199, (approximately Rs 34,200) for the 8GB RAM variant.
