Xiaomi recently added to its Mi 8 series of smartphones by taking the wraps of its Mi 8 Pro and Mi 8 Lite in China. The latter is said to be a trimmed down version of the previously launched Mi 8, which trades in the Snapdragon 845 SoC for a much more modest Snapdragon 660 chipset. While the smartphone was only launched in China, the company has now hinted of launching the smartphone in the global market via its official twitter account. Xiaomi tweeted a teasers image of the Mi 8 Lite last week, boasting about its features and further citing a global launch by stating, Where should be the first stop? It s not confirmed where the smartphone will be launching first, but considering Xiaomi s expanding focus on the Indian market, we re expecting it to make an appearance in the India as well. Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite features and specifications
The Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite sports a 6.26-inch full HD+ display with a resolution of 2280 1080 pixels and a 19:9 aspect ratio thanks to the notch at the top. Internally, the smartphone is packed with an octa-core Snapdragon 660 chipset, which features the Adreno 512 GPU to deliver a smooth gaming performance. The smartphone comes in three RAM and storage variants, which include 4GB/64GB, 4GB/128GB and 6GB/128GB.
In the photography department, the Mi 8 Lite carries dual cameras at the back consisting of a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. The front selfie camera is of 24-megapixel and comes backed with AI capabilities and Face Unlock feature. There is a physical fingerprint sensor at the back for additional security as well.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, GLONASS and a Type-C port. The device is also powered by a 3,350mAh battery under the hood which supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. It will be running MIUI 9 based on Android 81 Oreo out-of-the box.
