Recent reports have suggested that Xiaomi is planning to add two new smartphones to its flagship Mi 8 series on September 19. While the company has confirmed one of them to be the Mi 8 Youth Edition, rumors have suggested that the company will also unveil the Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition. The device, as the name suggests, is an upgraded version of the Mi 8 smartphone with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Now, an unboxing image of the smartphone further hints at its existence and sheds light on some of its key specifications. Along with that, it also mentions the device to come powered by a Snapdragon 845 SoC and feature dual-band GPS, just like original Mi 8. It also confirms the device to come with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. However, we expect there to be other variants as well. The box also confirms the device to boast a USB Type-C port.
The smartphone is also said to carry a similar design and build as the Mi 8. However, the color variant showcased in one of the unboxing images seems similar to the one Xiaomi recently teased on the Mi 8 Youth Edition. The only difference is the missing fingerprint sensor at the back. This could mean that two smartphones are likely to be available in the same color options which are said to be Twilight Gold, Dream Blue, Deep Space Gray.

Other details on the smartphone are still unknown but considering that it carries similar features to the Mi 8, it is expected to sport a 6.21-inch full HD+ notched display that comes with an aspect ratio of 18.7:9. It could also carry the same dual 12-megapixel sensors at the back, and the 20-megapixel selfie camera upfront for taking pictures. However, nothing is confirmed yet, and we ll just have to wait till tomorrow to find out what Xiaomi has in store.
