Back in May, Xiaomi launched its Mi 8 series of smartphones in China. Announced at the company’s eighth anniversary, the line-up includes the flagship Mi 8 (along with its different variants) and its slightly toned-down variant, the Mi 8 SE. Now, all Mi 8 series devices run Android Oreo (skinned with Xiaomi’s MIUI) out-of-the-box, with an update to Android Pie set to arrive soon. However, it seems that at least one of them is on track to receive Android Q as well.

According to a report on Nashville Chatter, Xiaomi Mi 8 SE was recently spotted on a Geekbench listing, running Android Q. This comes just days after Google’s top-tier Pixel 3 XL appeared on Geekbench with Android Q on-board, and it means that Google is hard at work developing the next version of the world’s most-popular mobile operating system. Going by a screenshot of the listing shared by Nashville Chatter, the Mi 8 SE scored 1830 and 5819 in single-core and multi-core benchmarks, respectively.

While there’s no information about Android Q yet, a recent report said that one of the features included in the upcoming release could be the ability to run two apps in split-screen mode simultaneously. Current Android versions do support split-screen functionality, but only one can be ‘active’ at a time.

Talking about the smartphone, Xiaomi Mi 8 SE is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 710 SoC, paired with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. The device has a 5.88-inch FullHD+ display with a resolution of 1080×2244 pixels, and an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. For imaging, the Mi 8 SE has a dual-lens rear camera system, comprised of a 12-megapixel module and a 5-megapixel module. There’s also a 20-megapixel front-facing module for selfies and video calls. The smartphone is backed by a 3,120mAh battery, with Quick Charge 3.0 support.
