It’s been rumored that Xiaomi is gearing up to launch a more affordable variant of its flagship Mi 8 smartphone. Now, a teaser poster has surfaced online revealing that the Mi 8 Youth will launch in China on September 19.

The new poster was spotted by Gizmochina on Xiaomi’s official Weibo account. The overall design is in line with ones that were spotted yesterday. This new poster confirms that the launch event will take place next week on September 19 in Chengdu, China.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth has been spotted online a few times, and these leaks have given us a fair idea on what to expect. What is immediately clear is that the upcoming device will be a more affordable variant of the Mi 8. One of the differentiators will be a horizontally-aligned dual-camera setup at the back.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth expected specifications, features

Based on everything we have come across so far, the Mi 8 Youth is expected to feature a 6.26-inch notched display with FHD+ (2280×1080 pixels) resolution, and 19:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC.

There are likely to be multiple variants to choose from. These would include 32GB+4GB RAM variant, 64GB+6GB RAM variant, and 128GB+8GB RAM variant. The internal storage on all three variants will be expandable courtesy of a hybrid card slot onboard.

For photography, the device is rumored to be equipped with a dual-camera setup at the back, which would include a pair of 12-megapixel sensors with 4K video recording support. For selfies, there will be a 24-megapixel snapper at the front. Making sure everything ticks is likely to be a 3,500mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth was recently spotted on Singaporean certification agency, which could be a hint towards the smartphone’s global launch. The device is expected to be priced at RMB 1,999, which roughly translates to Rs 21,000. Buyers will be able to choose from a bunch of color options like black, Rose Gold, white, blue, red, pink, gray, silver, and green.
