Xiaomi might be set to bring another variant to the Mi 8 smartphone lineup, expected as the Mi 8X. The company recently launched three Mi 8 smartphones in China – the Xiaomi Mi 8 with a regular rear-fingerprint scanner, the Mi 8 Explorer with in-display fingerprint scanner, and the Mi 8 SE with a fingerprint scanner on the back with Snapdragon 710 SoC.
Now a tipster from China has posted a couple of images of the alleged Xiaomi Mi 8X on Weibo. The smartphone is claimed to carry the same Snapdragon 710 as the Mi 8 SE along with in-display fingerprint scanner like the Explorer Edition. As for the design, the images showcase similar form factor as the regular Mi 8 with curved edges and glass or ceramic back. The top-left corner can be seen with a vertical dual camera setup.
The alleged Xiaomi Mi 8X leaked images show the device in two color options – white and blue. There is no clarity as to whether it will feature glass back or ceramic. Another tipster from China shared one more image of the Mi 8X white color in the hands of Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun in an aircraft. He further claims that the upcoming Mi Note could be replaced by the Mi 8X.

The existence of the phone was earlier tipped by XDA Developers even before the launch of Xiaomi Mi 8 SE. The report had tipped two Xiaomi smartphones codenamed ‘Sirius’ and ‘Comet’ with Snapdragon 710. While Xiaomi has already launched ‘Sirius’ as the Mi 8 SE, so now we are left with ‘Comet’ and if the rumors are correct then it could be Xiaomi MI 8X at launch.
