Xiaomi has today launched its first dual-camera smartphone in India. In line with what has repeatedly leaked recently, the smartphone is indeed called the Mi A1. Xiaomi Mi A1 price, availability
The Xiaomi Mi A1 is priced at Rs 14,999. It will be available online via mi.com as well as e-commerce site Flipkart. The device will also be available across Xiaomi Mi Home stores in the country. The smartphone is set to go on sale from September 12. Buyers will be able to choose from three color options – black, gold and rose gold. The new Xiaomi Mi A1 is essentially a rebranded Mi 5X that was launched in China back in July. While the overall design and specifications and features remain the same, there is one key difference between the Mi 5X and the Mi A1 – Android One. The Mi 5X runs on Android Nougat-based MIUI 9, and will be exclusive to the Chinese market. The Mi A1, on the other hand, runs on stock Android Nougat 7.1.2, and will be available in India and globally. There is also Google Assistant on board. Xiaomi also promises that Android Oreo will be rolled out for Mi A1 before the end of this year.

The highlight feature of the Mi A1 is the dual-camera setup at the back. This setup includes a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens, and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom support. The functionality is something similar to what is offered by smartphones like the OnePlus 5 and the Apple iPhone 7 Plus, and there is a dedicated portrait mode too. This mode lets you click photos with DSLR-like bokeh effect.
As far as specifications are concerned, the Mi A1 flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display protected by 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC paired with Adreno 506 GPU, and 4GB of RAM. There is 64GB of storage on offer, which can be further expanded using a microSD card.
Other features include a fingerprint sensor at the back, 3,080mAh battery, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots (hybrid setup), 4G VoLTE support, 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB Type-C port. The smartphone also offers high-quality audio backed by DHS Audio Calibration Algorithm, and a standalone audio amplifier on board.
