Xiaomi Mi A1 devices have started receiving the latest Android 8.1 Oreo security update from Google for August. Users on MIUI forum reported about the update roll out. The ‘August 2018 security update from Google’ improves security, and fixes bugs. The update size is a little heavy this time around at 474.4MB. The changelog also notes to improve device stability and performance optimization. The update brings the Build number to OPM1.171019.026.V184.108.40.206.ODHMIFE.
After a brief suspension of update rollout for Xiaomi Mi A1 last month, Xiaomi rolled out the Android 8.1 Oreo update with the July 2018 Android security patch. The company had paused the update because it was removing SMS messages for some users. Later, the company fixed the issue and updated the security patch in July.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 was the first Android One smartphone by Xiaomi in-partnership with Google. To recap, the company launched the Xiaomi Mi A1 last year in September 2017 and the device comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It features a 5.5-inch full-HD screen along with a dual-camera setup at the rear with two 12-megapixel camera sensors.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 has been discontinued in India, and the company has already launched the successor Xiaomi Mi A2. Prices for the new Android One smartphone start from Rs 16,999, and it is available via flash sales on mi.com and Amazon India.
There are two variants of the Xiaomi Mi A2, which have been announced today. The base model with 64GB+4GB RAM is priced at Rs 16,999. There is also a top-end model with 128GB+6GB RAM, but the company has only said that it is coming soon.
