Last month, Xiaomi launched its Mi Explorer program with a promise of taking fans to Spain for a product launch. The device in question here is the Xiaomi Mi A1 successor, the Xiaomi Mi A2. It is likely to be a rebranded Mi 6X that was launched in China earlier this year. Now, according to a post on Xiaomi’s Spanish forum, the global launch event will take place in Madrid, Spain on July 24.
Xiaomi is giving its fans an opportunity to attend the event, and they can apply between July 11 and July 18. Sadly, fans will have to cover their own travel and accommodation fees. Xiaomi Mi A2 specifications and features
The Mi A2 will mostly be sharing the same hardware as the Mi 6X. Instead of MIUI 10 custom skin, it will run on stock Android, just like the Mi A1. In terms of hardware, the Mi A2 could be powered by a Snapdragon 660 SoC with an octa-core CPU paired with 4GB or 6GB RAM. In terms of storage, 32GB and 64GB onboard options are expected.
For shutterbugs, a dual camera setup at the back with 12-megapixel primary and 20-megapixel secondary sensor is expected. Xiaomi is also expected to add some AI enhancements, such as the screen recognition modes in the camera app. Up front, a 20-megapixel snapper for selfies and video calling is likely to be in tow.
The Mi A2 could feature a 6-inch full HD+ 1080×2160pixels display with 18:9 aspect ratio, 3,010mAh battery, dual SIM card slots, 4G LTE with VoLTE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity options. It is likely to run Android 8.1 Oreo with Android One program. There is no word on the pricing and India launch details, but we expect to know more as the launch event draws closer.
