Xiaomi is hosting a global event tomorrow, and if the reports are to be believed, we could see the launch of the Mi A2. The smartphone has been in the rumor mills for quite sometime now, and it has yet again been spotted online.
Just last week the Xiaomi Mi A2 was spotted on a Swiss website. Now it has been spotted on Taiwan’s NCC by Dealntech hinting at an imminent launch. While the listing doesn’t explicitly mention Mi A2, the Xiaomi smartphone carries the model number M1804D2SG. This incidentally is the same model number associated with the Chinese version of the Xiaomi Mi 6X.
Similar to last year’s Mi A1, Xiaomi is again expected to rebrand the Mi 6X as the Mi A2 for the global markets. While the specifications and features will remain the same, the big difference will be in the operating system. Where the Mi 6X runs Xiaomi’s MIUI, the Mi A2 is expected to run stock Android OS.
Xiaomi Mi A2 expected specifications, features
The Xiaomi Mi A2 is likely to feature a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset. For photography, the device will be equipped with a dual-camera (20-megapixel+12-megapixel) setup. Up front will be a 20-megapixel selfie camera.
Making sure everything ticks will be a 3,010mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. There will also be a fingerprint sensor, face unlock feature, and a USB Type-C port.
