Xiaomi today launched two new smartphones at its global event in Spain. These new smartphones are the Xiaomi Mi A2 and the Mi A2 Lite. While both devices are part of Google’s Android One program, they differ in terms of the design, specifications, and features. Here’s a look at these differences.
Xiaomi Mi A2 vs Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite: Display
Both the new Xiaomi smartphones feature a tall displays, but only the Mi A2 comes with a notch at the top. The Mi A2 flaunts a 5.99-inch 18:9 screen, while the Mi A2 Lite features a 5.84-inch 19:9 screen. Both displays run at full HD+ resolution.

The Mi A2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset clocked at 2.2GHz. The Mi A2 Lite, on the other hand, is powered by a chipset that is highly prefered by Xiaomi – Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 clocked at 2GHz. The chipsets are paired with Adreno 512 GPU and Adreno 506 GPU, respectively.
Xiaomi Mi A2 vs Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite: Memory
The Xiaomi Mi A2 has been launched in three variants. The base and mid variants come with 4GB RAM, and 32GB and 64GB storage respectively. The top variant comes with 128GB storage, and 6GB of RAM.
The Mi A2 Lite, on the other hand, comes in only two variants. The base model gets 32GB storage and 3GB RAM, while the top variant gets 64GB storage and 4GB RAM. The internal storage on all variants can be expanded using a microSD card.
The three Mi A2 variants are priced at €249 (approximately Rs 20,000), €279 (approximately Rs 22,500), and €349 (approximately Rs 28,100), respectively. The two Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite variants are priced at €179 (approximately Rs 14,400), and €229 (approximately Rs 18,400).

Xiaomi Mi A2 vs Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite: Cameras
Both the smartphones feature a dual-camera setup at the back, and a single camera at the front for selfies. The Mi A2 features a combination of 20-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.75 aperture, and 12-megapixel secondary sensor with f/1.75 aperture. Up front, there is a 20-megapixel sensor accompanied by a soft light LED flash. Both sets of cameras are backed by AI.
As for Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite, it comes with a combination of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel f/2.2 sensors at the back. Up front is a 5-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture.
Xiaomi Mi A2 vs Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite: Battery
The Mi A2 is backed by a 3,000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0 via USB Type-C port. The Mi A2 Lite, on the other hand, is backed by a 4,000mAh battery that Xiaomi claims is good enough to offer up to two days of backup.

As mentioned, both smartphones are a part of Google’s Android One initiative. In other words, the two run stock Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. They are also guaranteed to get Android P update. For security, both devices come with a fingerprint sensor. The Mi A2 also comes with face unlock feature for additional security.
