Xiaomi is hosting an event today where it will be launching the Mi Air Purifier 2. The event kicks off at 12:00PM IST, and you will be able to watch it live online. Xiaomi will be live streaming the event on a micro site it has created for today’s launch. The Chinese company had first launched an air purifier in China back in December 2014. Towards the end of last year, it launched the Mi Air Purifier 2, which is more compact, yet more powerful than its predecessor. In terms of dimensions, the Air Purifier 2 is 520x240mm as opposed to its 735x260mm predecessor. To put these dimensions in simpler terms, the Mi Air Purifier 2’s base area is smaller than a A4-size paper. Also Read - Friendship Day gifting ideas for your young tech-savvy besties under Rs 5,000
Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2 specifications
Despite being smaller than the first-gen air purifier, the Mi Air Purifier 2 still boasts a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 310m3/h. It features a single motor, dual mixed booster fans and three-layer filter. Besides being up to 58 percent more power efficient than its predecessor, the new system is also up to 11 percent quieter. Xiaomi boasts that its air purifier is capable of removing up to 99.7 percent of the PM2.5 particulates in less than an hour.
What differentiates Xiaomi’s Air Purifier 2 from standard purifiers is that it can be controlled via a smartphone app. Using Xiaomi’s Mi Smart House app, you can remote test the air quality at your home, or switch between different purifier modes. It also features a unique cylindrical filter that is encased in the lower part of the unit and has vents on three sides, which the company claims offers better air intake. One filter can last anywhere between three to six months depending on usage, Xiaomi claims, and is extremely easy to change.
In China, Xiaomi had launched the Mi Air Purifier 2 for RMB 699 (Rs 7,000 approximately), which give it an edge over rivals. It remains to be seen, if Xiaomi is able to stick to the aggressive pricing when it launches the purifier in India. We will be covering the launch event live, so stay tuned!
