Xiaomi has launched the Mi Band 3 at an event in China, alongside the Xiaomi Mi 8 and Xiaomi Mi 8 SE, Mi 8 Explorer Edition. The fitness tracker is the successor to the Mi Band 2 that was launched back in 2016. The fitness band comes with an updated design, added features and an improved capacitive OLED monochrome screen. The Xiaomi Mi Band 3 is priced at RMB 169 (approximately Rs 1,780), and is currently only slated to go on sale in China. Availability for India and other markets has not yet been announced. The Xiaomi Mi Band 3 features a 0.78-inch OLED display, which comes with rounded edges and a depressed button area right below the display. The band comes with a heart-rate sensor, fitness and activity tracking that includes step counting, sleep monitoring and more. The band is also water resistant up to 50m, and additionally features NFC for quick connectivity, but this is only available on the higher variant. The Mi Band 3 is touted to be better connected with the paired smartphone, and will feature improved notification prompts. This includes the ability to see who is calling and directly mute incoming calls on the Mi Band 3 itself. The claimed battery life of the Mi Band 3 is 20 days, which is obviously dependent on how it will be used by the user.

The affordable fitness tracker doesn’t change much from the Mi Band 2, apart from basic tweaks in design. It will come in three color options initially – orange, black and blue. Also launched at the event were the Xiaomi Mi 8 and its variants, the Mi VR Standalone headset, MIUI 10 and the 75-inch Mi TV 4.
