Xiaomi recently took the wraps off its gaming smartphone called Black Shark, and at the event, CEO Lei Jun was spotted wearing a yet-to-be-released product. The product in question here was speculated to be the Mi Band 3. The fitness band recently cleared Bluetooth certification in China, hinting that the launch could be imminent. Now, Xiaomi has officially teased the fitness band on Twitter, which means the company may be ready to finally release it.
From what we can see, the smartband doesn’t seem to come with a physical button to toggle modes, as we have seen on the Mi Band 2 and Mi band HRX Edition. Xiaomi seems to have worked on the design of the Mi Band 3, and it looks elegant in the teaser. The lack of physical button sort of confirms the earlier report which stated that the Mi Band 3 will come with a touchscreen display, and gesture control support.
The previous leak did give an idea of how users will be able to use gestures to control the smart fitness band. Simply sliding up and down on the screen, users can switch between notifications.

While swiping up on the screen will unlock the Mi Band 3, tapping on the screen will allow users to switch between different options through infinite loop – to see step count, sleep tracking, heart rate monitor and more.
The first Mi Band was launched in India back in 2015 for Rs 999, whereas the Mi Band 2 was launched in September 2016 for Rs 1,999. While the Mi Band 2 included a heart-rate sensor along with an OLED display, the Mi Band 3 being expected to bring touchscreen with gesture support, it will likely cost considerably higher.
Also, the battery life on Mi Band-series has been phenomenal compared to the competitors, and it remains to be seen how much impact adding a color touchscreen will make.
