Xiaomi is likely to hold a global launch event for an unannounced smartphone on June 28. The company posted a 20-second long video clip on its official Weibo account to tease the launch of the upcoming device. It video starts off in a Xiaomi Mi Home where a number of Xiaomi devices on display. It looks like the Mi Home is shutting down as lights gradually shut down only to leave the Xiaomi logo glowing in the background. Suddenly a blue vortex appears in the middle spitting out a box of what is likely to be the upcoming Xiaomi device on the table.

The box of the device is lying on the table with white colored Xiaomi logo on the top and side of the box. The video ends after flashing a message of the 14th second that translated to “A gift from the future” followed by another message that translates to “June 28, New Xiaomi”. The first text “A gift from the future” likely indicates that we are talking about an unannounced Xiaomi smartphone and the second message is likely to be the launch date of the said device. Xiaomi has not issued any official statement about the launch at the time of writing.

It is likely that the company may launch the much anticipated Xiaomi Mi A2 in the market at the launch event. However, considering that Xiaomi always ensures that the packing of its devices is as compact as possible to save on the money, the box looks comparatively larger than the smartphones around, on display. It is likely that the company may be planning to launch the equally anticipated, Xiaomi Mi Max 3.

The box and the packing would go in line with the Mi Max 3 instead of the Xiaomi Mi A2. This comes right after Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Pro leaked out on the internet with Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC along with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. As reported previously the device will come with a 6.9-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio while running MIUI 10, based on the Android 8.1 Oreo OS. It’s also expected to be powered by a 5,400mAh battery and will be available in two colors – Black and Gold.
