Xiaomi has launched a new storage variant of its phablet, the Mi Max 2, in India. This Mi Max 2 variant comes with 4GB RAM plus a toned down 32GB of internal storage, and is priced at Rs 12,999. This variant of the Mi Max 2 will be available for purchase starting September 20 at 12:00PM on mi.com, Amazon India, and across Mi Home stores. Xiaomi had launched the Mi Max 2 back in July with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage, priced at Rs 16,999. Other than a new storage option, rest of the specifications remain the same on the Mi Max 2.
Successor to the Mi Max, the Mi Max 2 shares the same display specifics but comes with upgrades under its hood. Firstly, the Mi Max 2 boasts a massive 5,300mAh battery when compared to the 4,850mAh battery on the Mi Max. Xiaomi claims that the Mi Max 2 can last for two days straight on a single charge. It also added that the smartphone offers 18 hours of video, music playback for up to 10 days, gaming for nine hours, and talktime of 57 hours, all on a single charge each. The Mi Max 2 also comes with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 support, and reverse charging. Xiaomi has also added dual power amplifier stereo speakers on the Mi Max 2 which is not available on its predecessor.

In terms of design, the Mi Max 2 flaunts a metal unibody. It houses a fingerprint sensor at the back, and an IR Blaster at the top of the device. There are antenna bands running along the top and bottom of the rear panel. The antenna bands come in the same color as the smartphone, making it almost invisible. Continuing with its specifications, the Mi Max 2 features a 6.44-inch full HD (1080p) display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC. The Mi Max 2 also offers storage expansion using a microSD card. For photography, the Mi Max 2 sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with a Sony IMX386 sensor, auto-focus, LED flash, PDAF support, and HDR. Its connectivity options include dual-SIM support, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB Type-C support. On the software front, it runs on Android Nougat 7.1.1 wrapped under MIUI 8. The company however promises a MIUI 9 update soon.
