Xiaomi Mi Max starts receiving Android 7.0 Nougat update

The update is rolling out to select users with MIUI 8.5.1.

Xiaomi’s first phablet, the Mi Max, has reportedly started receiving Android 7.0 Nougat update. Although a late update, with Android O due to launch in a few months, the Android 7.0 Nougat update is being welcomed by Mi Max users. Xiaomi had launched the Mi Max in China May last year, followed by a launch in India in June. The update comes with the MIUI 8.5.1 version, which is based on Android 7.0 Nougat. Currently, Mi Max users in Greece have started receiving the Android 7.0 Nougat update according to screenshots posted on Facebook.

A Facebook page named ‘Greek Xiaomi Lovers’ (spotted by GSMArena), has screenshots of the OTA update along with the changelog. The new features that the Mi Max users will receive include new switches for common settings in search results and the ability for users to select their time zones through search. The new update has improved the CPU allocation strategy, and there’s a new separate app lock for dual apps as well. The lock screen gets some new features like an option to hide the content of notifications. The details of the verification SMSs will be shown only after the lock screen is unlocked. Additionally, Android 7.0 Nougat will bring its key feature like split-screen mode, where one can use two apps simultaneously.
