Xiaomi started the trend of bezel-less smartphones with the Mi MIX last year. Now, a successor to the Mi MIX is reportedly in tow with the expected launch date being September 12. The Mi MIX s 6.4-inch display has a screen-to-body ratio of 91.3 percent. But with the Mi MIX 2, Xiaomi is aiming for a display of 18:9 aspect ratio ,and 95 percent screen-to-body ratio. The official concept design of the Mi MIX 2 has now been shared by Philippe Starck. The 40-second video clip was shared on Starck s official Facebook page, and is essentially the concept product design of the Mi MIX 2. At first glance, one would mistake it for either of the Samsung Galaxy S8 duo, as the design resemblance is striking. The Mi MIX 2 features curved edges, as opposed to the geometric design the Mi MIX flaunts. The absence of bezels is quite apparent on the Mi MIX 2, but this time the bottom bezel has become even thinner.
The front camera lens is visible on the bottom bezel, like how it was on the Mi MIX. And just like with the predecessor, Xiaomi could be incorporating advanced receiver-less sound transmission for the ear piece, and ultrasonic technology embedded under the display. Judging by the concept design, it looks like the Mi MIX 2 will feature a curved edge display. The video also showed a small peek at the bottom edge of the Mi MIX 2, where it houses a USB Type-C port and speaker grilles. ALSO READ: Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 to reportedly boast 3D facial recognition
While that’s a hint at how the Mi MIX 2 could look like, but there still is no official word on what would power the device. However, if we gather the rumors there have been about the phone so far, the smartphone could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. The Mi MIX 2 is expected to launch in three variants of 4GB of RAM plus 128GB storage, 6GB of RAM plus 128GB, and the other with 6G of RAM and 256GB storage. For photography, it is believed to sport a 19-megapixel rear camera, and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. However, some reports also suggest a dual-camera setup at the rear. It will possibly be fueled by a 4,500mAh battery. ALSO READ: Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 with Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6GB of RAM spotted on Geekbench
