The Mi MIX 2, like its predecessor, trims the bezels surrounding the display with the chin housing the front facing camera. The smartphone features aluminum frame and a 5.99-inch Full HD+ IPS display up front. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset similar to other flagship devices like OnePlus 5T, Nokia 8, LG V30+ and Google Pixel 2.
The Mi MIX 2 features a 12-megapixel primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus and 4-axis optical image stabilization. It also sports a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1080p video recording. The front camera is placed on the chin and Mi MIX 2 users need to rotate the device to get a proper selfie.
On the connectivity front, the Mi MIX 2 supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and 4G LTE. It features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and misses out on 3.5mm headphone jack. With Mi MIX 2, Xiaomi has added an actual earpiece and the sound now resonates through the display and the frame. The implementation is noticeably better than the piezoelectric speaker found on the original Mi MIX.
The smartphone runs MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1 Nougat and is backed by a 3,400mAh battery. The Mi MIX 2 is also available in Ceramic variant with 18K gold plated camera ring in China.
