Xiaomi has confirmed that it will be launching the Mi MIX 2 in China on September 11, just a day before Apple iPhone 8. With just days left to the launch, the upcoming smartphone has been spotted on Weibo along with new information.
Spotted by telecomtalk.info, the leaked screenshot reveals that the Mi MIX 2 might run on Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. This however comes as a bit of surprise, considering Xiaomi recently unveiled Android Nougat-based MIUI 9. This new leak also suggests that the Mi MIX 2 will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 SoC. This is again contradictory to earlier reports that hint at a Snapdragon 835 SoC onboard.
Keeping the smartphone ticking will be a 4,000mAh battery. The listing further reveals that the smartphone will flaunt a 6.2-inch display with a 2960×1440 pixels resolution. In comparison, last year’s Mi MIX featured a 6.4-inch screen.
In terms of design, renders suggest that the smartphone will look quite similar to the Mi MIX. The display stretches from edge-to-edge with just a strip of bezel at the bottom. The renders also hint at the rear camera aligned vertically at the back accompanied by a LED flash. On the right will be the volume rocker and the power button. Earlier rumors have also hinted that the MI MIX 2 will be paired with 6GB of RAM, while the internal memory of the phone is expected to be 256GB. If reports are anything to go by, then an 8GB RAM variant might also be on its way. On the camera front, the smartphone is expected to sport a 19-megapixel rear camera, and a 16-megapixel selfie camera. Some rumors also suggest that the smartphone will sport a dual-camera setup.
These leaks need to be taken with the proverbial pinch of salt. Everything will anyway be confirmed on September 11.
