In just two weeks of Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10 closed beta for Mi Mix 2S, Xiaomi has now reportedly started rolling out the public beta developer version of the update for the device. According to GizmoChina, Xiaomi is rolling new MIUI 10 8.9.7 public beta ROM based on Android 9 Pie for Mi Mix 2S. The latest public beta developer version 8.9.7 is meant for testing and the stable build is expected to roll out in few weeks time. The Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10 8.9.7 public beta update for Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S is said to bring latest September Android security patch as well. In late August, Xiaomi rolled out both Chinese and Global beta ROMs of Android Pie for the Mi MIX 2s. These also included security patches up to September.
While Xiaomi is very quick with MIUI updates, the fact is that company still takes much longer time to deliver latest Android OS upgrade for its smartphones. With Android 9 Pie based MIUI 10 for Mi Mix 2S, the premium smartphone has become the first ever Xiaomi phone to receive Pie update in company’s portfolio.

Launched earlier this year, Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s carries forward the bezel-less design of its predecessors, while improving on the features. The smartphone was originally launched with Android 8.0 Oreo. The Mi MIX 2s has a 5.99-inch FullHD+ (1080 2160 pixels resolution) display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 845 SoC, paired with 6/8GB of RAM and 64/128/256GB of internal storage.
