We are a month away from the official release of Xiaomi‘s upcoming Mi MIX 2s and the rumor mill is already in a full swing. The smartphone can be called a successor variant of the Mi MIX 2 smartphone, which was launched in India late last year. Adding to the list of leaks is an alleged image of the device’s MIUI/Settings section leaked on Weibo. The image confirms a number of specifications, which have been rumored in the past. Based on the leaked screenshot, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s will run the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. The chipset is already powering the Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+, and the Sony Xperia XZ2, and promises better performance, support for even higher-resolution displays, and AI capabilities. The Mi MIX 2s is further said to include a 6.01-inch display offering the 2160×1080 pixels resolution. The image reveals 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage. For optics, the smartphone is likely to pack a 16-megapixel rear camera. Now, this stands in contrast to the potential of the chipset to support dual cameras. It was reported earlier that the smartphone will indeed pack a pair of 12-megapixel sensors, one with 2X optical zoom at the back.
It is worth observing that in the leaked image, the smartphone appears to feature a rounded, symmetrical panel, which stands in contrast to earlier reports about the smartphone featuring a selfie camera placed on the top right corner of the device, GSMArena reports.
Recently, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun confirmed via Weibo that the Mi MIX 2s will run the Snapdragon 845 SoC, and will arrive on March 27, 2018. The company made the announcement with a poster that mentioned the digits ‘273741’. To recall, this was the AnTuTu score achieved by the Mi MIX 2S as revealed by past reports. The score is higher than the scores of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Sony Xperia XZ2.
It is also expected that the Mi MIX 2s will receive an in-display fingerprint sensor, which means there will not be any physical sensor on the device and you will have to touch at a designated area on the display of the phone itself to authenticate. While it is also speculated the Mi MIX 2s will borrow the ‘notch’ from the Apple iPhone X, the latest image does not seem to confirm that. In terms of pricing, the Mi MIX 2s is rumored to cost around RMB 4,000 (approximately Rs 40,000) when launched.
