Xiaomi officially revealed that its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 will come with 5G support and a massive 10GB RAM. The official confirmation came right after the company teased both specifications as part of a cryptic teaser with “5G” and “10G” imprinted in Yellow on two Red-colored handbooks. This means that Xiaomi will be among the first lot of devices in the market to support 5G connectivity months, if not years before the official roll-out of 5G network across the globe. In addition to the connectivity, 10GB RAM will also be a first for the smartphone as no other company has launched a device with this much RAM.
According to a report by GSMArena, 5G support was initially confirmed by Xiaomi Spain while a post from the official Xiaomi account on Weibo confirms the 10GB RAM teaser. The post confirming 5G support seems to have been taken down at the time of writing. It is likely that 10GB RAM in a smartphone is more than one would require and it is more about bragging rights. Though, adding 5G support is likely to make Mi Mix 3 a lot more future proof than any other specification bump as the 5G network is set to roll out in 2019 in some parts of the world.

In addition to these specifications, teaser posters for the device also indicated that it may come with “slide-out cameras”. Though, Xiaomi is not the first company to launch a device with such a design as Vivo was the first to reveal a device with a pop-up camera back at CES earlier this year.
