Xiaomi has just taken the wraps off the Mi MIX 3, its latest and greatest flagship smartphone. Like its predecessors, Xiaomi s new smartphone features an almost bezel-less display. There s no notch either, since the Mi MIX 3 s dual front-facing cameras are housed in a mechanical slider similar to that of Oppo s Find X. There s a dual camera system at the back as well, comprised of a 12-megapixel sensor and a 20-megapixel unit. Impressive as that setup sounds on paper, are those two rear cameras actually any good? DxOMark, whose scores are often touted by manufacturers to highlight the camera performance of their smartphones, has awarded a combined score of 103 to Xiaomi Mi MIX 3. Interestingly, that s the same as the combined score achieved by Samsung s top-of-the-line Galaxy Note 9. That said, it s a little below the overall scores of Apple iPhone XS Max (105) and Huawei P20 Pro (109). In its summarized report, DxOMark praised the fast and accurate autofocus capabilities of Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 s rear cameras. The report further noted that both photos and videos captured from the smartphone s shooters have very good dynamic range, with noise levels kept well under control. However, inconsistent Portrait Mode performance and the presence of noise in low light situations were highlighted as some of the downers.
