In the past few weeks, there has been a lot of buzz around the upcoming Xiaomi Mi MIX 3. Only two days ago, we came across 3D renders of the device that revealed the smartphone to come with a pop-up camera module, just like the Vivo NEX. Now, an alleged teaser has surfaced online, which further confirms that theory and reveals more information on the launch date.
The leaked teaser spotted on Weibo doesn’t carry an image of the device, but rather highlights the outline of it, with the pop-up selfie camera at the top. The camera module looks similar to the one featured on the Vivo NEX. Underneath the outline, the teaser states “2018.9”, which points towards a possible September launch. That said, it cannot be confirmed if the teaser image is authentic, so we ask readers to take this a with a pinch of salt.
It was reported earlier that the Mi Mix 3 is likely going to feature a high screen-to-body ratio above 90 percent. And judging by how Vivo and Oppo have managed to achieve it, a motorized camera on the Mi Mix 3 makes sense. In fact, Xiaomi was also reported to file for a patent in 2015 for a LED-flash enabled selfie camera that can pop up. It’s possible that Xiaomi might be using the same with the Mi Mix 3.

Earlier renders have also hinted at a missing fingerprint sensor. This could mean that the Mi Mix 3 will be featuring an in-display fingerprint sensor. While other specifications haven’t been mentioned, the device is touted to come with a Snapdragon 845 SoC and an internal storage capacity of 512GB. You can expect more rumors to surface as we get closer to its September launch date.
