Earlier this week, Xiaomi teased its new Mi Notebook Air successor which is scheduled to launch on December 23. However, just a day ahead of the official launch, key specifications, features, and pricing details of the rumored Mi Notebook Pro have surfaced online. The super thin laptop with 4G LTE connectivity is expected to be available with a starting price of RMB 6,000 (Rs 58,600 approximately). When Xiaomi launched its first laptop earlier this year, it chose the Mi Notebook Air moniker, inspired by Apple s premium MacBook Air laptop. Now, according to the fresh leaks, it is expected that the new Mi Notebook will be labeled as Mi Notebook Pro , again aping this year s Apple MacBook Pro laptop. However, instead of the proprietary TouchBar, the affordable Mi Notebook Pro is expected to bring in 4G support. Xiaomi s teaser image for the product launch places the Mi logo next to the logo of China Mobile which basically means the laptop will be exclusive to the network provider. Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro specifications, features
Based on earlier rumors, it is expected that Xiaomi will continue with the same design language for the new Mi Notebook Pro with a lightweight and ultra-thin body. As the teaser image hints, the new laptop will come with a SIM card slot, which the original Mi Notebook Air lacked. In terms of hardware, leaks suggest that the new Mi Notebook Pro will also be available in the same display sizes of 12.5-inch and 13.3-inch as its predecessor, but offer 4K resolution. At the heart will be Intel i7-6700HQ processor with GTX 960M GPU and 16GB RAM. The laptop will further include a 512GB SSD drive. Details about the Mi Notebook Pro s battery are currently unavailable.
Highlight of the new Mi Notebook Pro will be its support for 4G, which will allow users to access the internet on-the-go. As of the now, the laptop appears to be China Mobile-exclusive, which means the device will be limited to the specific network provider. It is unclear if Xiaomi plans to extend the support for other providers. ALSO READ: Apple MacBook Pro with Touch Bar: Raises the bar, for a price
To put these leaks into perspective, the original Mi Notebook Air also comes in display sizes of 12.5-inch and 13.3-inch with full HD resolution. Weighing just 1.07 kg (12.5-inch), it is powered by an Intel Core M3 processor, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD with expandable storage option, Dolby Digital sound system, and runs Windows 10. It is priced at RMB 3,499 (Rs 34,200 approximately).
The 13.3-inch model, on the other hand, comes with Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics card, 256GB PCIe solid-state drive (SSD) and also runs Windows 10. It is priced at RMB 4,999 (Rs 48,700 approximately). The laptop further features an HDMI port, a USB 3.0 port and 3.5mm audio jack, while on the right is a USB 3.0 port and USB Type-C port for charging. However, the 12.5-inch variant comes only with one USB 3.0 port.
The original Mi Notebook Air continues to be available only in China. With the upcoming laptop, there are little chances of an international launch. However, we could hope for Xiaomi to release in the Indian market where the brand enjoys tremendous popularity in terms of affordable, feature-rich smartphones and other consumer products.
