Xiaomi s Mi Pad successor, the Mi Pad 2 has been in the news since December last year. Almost a year has gone past and yet, the tablet hasn t seen a light of the day. While the Mi Pad was powered by NVIDIA s Tegra chipset, the yet to be unveiled Mi Pad 2 is said to be powered by Intel s chipset, a Geekbench document reveals. Someone possessing the tablet s prototype has put it through paces on Geekbench benchmark, which sheds some light on its specifications. Mi Pad 2 specifications and features: Based on the previous rumors, the second-gen Mi Pad is still pegged to come with a 7.9-inch display running at a resolution of 2,048×1,536 pixels. According to Geekbench listing, the tablet is powered by an Intel chipset, quad-core Atom x5-Z8500 with clock speed of 2.24GHz and paired with 2GB of RAM.
On the storage front, it boasts of 16GB of internal storage, but there is no word on whether it can be expanded or not. Connectivity features such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 and GPS are expected. Running on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, Xiaomi s MIUI is most likely to run atop.
As Xiaomi hasn t officially announced anything yet, other details of the tablet are scarce. However, we expect more information to pour in, in the coming weeks.
