After launching the Mi 6X in China, Xiaomi is reportedly preparing for the launch of its Mi Pad 3 successor. The company was rumored to be working on a new tablet back in October last year, however, we are yet to see the purported tablet showing up in the market. Now, if the latest reports are anything to go by, the company may soon introduce the Mi Pad 4.

The information comes from firmware files of a Xiaomi tablet running Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. The tablet is speculated to be the Mi Pad 4. However, as the company is yet to officially announce anything, it is advisable to take the information with a grain of salt.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 rumored specifications

According to XDA Developers, which obtained the firmware files, the MIUI configuration for the device states that it is a ‘pad’ and not any other device, confirming it is indeed the files for the tablet. Further, the property details also mention ‘tablet’ for apps to work in the tablet interface. Next up, the default screen density is set to 320, which is an extremely low value and something expected from a tablet that shows a lot of content on the screen as compared to a smartphone.

Other details revealed through the files is that the Mi Pad 4 will come powered by a 6,000mAh battery. It is expected that the Mi Pad 4 will be equipped with an 18:9 display. This might make the tablet one of the first in its category to feature a narrow bezel display. It is expected that the display panel will be LCD instead of OLED.

Details on the RAM and storage are scarce at the moment. However, the firmware files reveal there could be a microSD card slot for storage expansion. As for optics, we may see a single 13-megapixel OmniVision OV13855 sensor with a f/2.0 aperture on the rear, and 5-megapixel Samsung S5K5E8 sensor with a f/2.0 aperture on the front. The device won’t support 4K video recording but support for portrait mode is expected. Lastly, the MIUI configuration file states that there won’t be any NFC support either.
